So best to our knowledge Jeremiah has what is called an umbilical hernia. What it means is that his umbilical cord has not closed off all the way from the inside and so a piece of intestine is poking through the opening causing the belly button to protrude. It is not painful in any way and does not cause any real problems for him. It is in fact a very common thing in infants. They do not do anything for it medically, like surgery, unless it is causing problems with him going to the bathroom. It can take up to two years to heal on its own. If at that point it has not closed by itself then they will explore other options.
We are praying God's healing hand would be on Jeremiah and would heal him quickly.

I hope that no further complications result from the hernia. I was fortunate to not have that issue with my kids. Think about you often!
So how are you guys doing? How is little Jeremiah? I keep checking your post for new stuff. Can't wait until you most more.
